Prospects for the Post-transformation of Japan’s developmental Model: Causes and Cosequences
Ýbrahim Özturk (Marmara University)
Abstract
In the course of post-bubble crisis of the early 1990s, Japan has entered a new era of developmentalism with the implementation of deep structural transformation measures in administration, finance, and trade structures in order to achieve, according to official and academic declarations, a system based on “free”, “fair”, and “global” principles. This proposal discusses the pressing requirements of the recent reforms, the causes of domestic and external pressures for Japan’s developmental model to change radically, and the prospects for the possibility and extend of systemic “convergence” to the Anglo-Saxon type of capitalist accumulation regime.
