Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the behaviour of people holding a second occupation in Spain. For this end we use the Labour Force Survey (1992-97) and the first wave of the Household Panel for 1994. Some important findings are that the business cycle does not seem to influence this phenomenon, whereas time constraints in the main occupation seem to be very significant. Moreover, older men with children and a higher education are more likely to moonlight. In relation to the occupational category, are farmers and professionals/executives who hold a second job although it is likely that their motivations vary considerably.
