Persistence of Firm Level Profitability in Turkey

Abstract

The paper explores the links between competition, finance and corporate governance. It provides evidence on the dynamics of product market competition by time series analysis of persistence of corporate profitability from the early 1980s to 1999 in Turkey. The long run projected profit rates at the firm level are related to a set of industry and firm specific variables.
