The Foundations of the Global Competitiveness of a Nation: A Presentation in Terms of Factors and Results

Alain Narcisse Nurbel (CERESUR, France)

Abstract

The recurrent use of the concept of international competitiveness in order to explain differences in performances between firms on the one hand, and between countries on the other hand, paradoxically induces to wonder about the content at which it refers. The plurality of its levels of application is certainly not irrelevant to the vagueness which seems to surround its definition. The subject of this article consists in contributing to break up the vagueness surrounding the concept by showing its richness within the framework of a presentation of the foundations of the nation’s global competitiveness with the canons of a lecture in terms of factors and results.
